PUT THE BRAKES ON SALOP ROAD!

The residents along Salop Road are fed up with the constant noise of fast moving traffic, heavy lorries and 'Boy Racers' in a road often used by young school children.

They are getting together to try to push the council to reduce the constant and unecessary day and night use by heavy lorries using it as a short cut to the bypass.

They are also appealing for motorists in general to slow down on this narrow stretch of road which along with the one-way system is being used by some as a race track.

The pavements along Salop Road are very narrow, passing vans and lorries often forget that their rear view mirrors overhang the pavement and several people have been struck by them in the past as they race past.

Crossing the road is a gamble to life, especially at the Red Bank junction where visibility is very poor and is made worse by drivers failing to indicate they are turning up into Red Bank or into the hospital turning.

WHAT CAN WE DO ?

Show our concerns in writing or by email to all our local MP's, Powys County Council's Highways Dept, the Town Council, and to the police. To push for the de-trunking of the road, and a reduction in speed and weight limits.

Take photographs or better still video of any events, recording registration numbers of offenders.

Use the reporting section of the Dyfed-Powys Police's 'Operation Snap' to report vehicles speeding or driving dangerously, and upload videos or photographs when available.

Report vehicles on the country wide police 'Operation Crackdown' scheme.

Send the videos to Woo, where they can be displayed on this page.

Support the campaign on the facebook group page.

Create an online Poll, the results to be shared with the Council, MP's and Police.

OPERATION SNAP

Reporting Dangerous Driving and Anti-Social Behaviour on the road

Many of us now carry a mobile phone with the ability to take photographs and short videos. If you witness dangerous driving events or occurances of anti-social behaviour using vehicles, you can now send these to the Police so they can take action.

Try to get a clear shot of the vehicle registration numbers, but do not place yourself at any risk to get a good photograph. and definitely do not take pictures while driving.

Try to hold the camera horizontally if taking a picture or video, this will give a wider shot containing more information.

OPERATION CRACKDOWN

Similar to Operation Snap run by Dyfed Powys Police shown above, Operation Crackdown is a country wide scheme.

LETS NAME AND SHAME!

If you can, take a video using your mobile phone of any regular events along Salop Road.

Record those boy racers driving dangerously with their loud exhausts,

record the speeding or oversized lorries.

Try where possible to get the registration numbers.

Let's put them on the Police's Radar !

WOO WILL PUBLISH PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOS AND ACCOUNTS THAT YOU SEND IN!

Any video record, or written account will be published below, let's name and shame and try to make offenders think twice before racing along our street. I will also send the video where I can to the companies that own the lorries, and make the Police aware. So please send in your video or account using the button below.
