MAKE & PLAY
Sometimes it can be much more fun to make your own toys!
Ask your parents for some help in making some.
Keeping the little ones busy can be hard, especially during school holidays, we don't want them stuck in front of a television or games device, so what better way to fill this time than to promote the use of their own creativity, and it doesn't cost a fortune either!.
Many years ago I met someone and also took on two children, money wise we literally had nothing, her ex had previously burned all their belongings including all the children's toys. The girl had 2 Cindy dolls and 2 horses, the boy his Action Men, it was all they had between them. So using empty shoe boxes and scraps of carpet and wallpaper we made her a dolls house with stables, and an army barracks for him, giving them not only many hours of pleasure using them, but also the enjoyment of creating it from nothing, being able to choose themselves the patterns and colours and even the room layouts, they even enjoyed sewing up odd pieces of material to make duvets and sleeping bags. All it cost was a bottle of glue.

Make your own Dolls house, or even a whole street of houses, in fact you can make your own little village with houses, shops and a school.
Find a few boxes, boxes from he shops that held Crisps are a good size for Cindy / Barbie or Action Men.
Cover the inside walls with scraps of wallpaper, or make your own on paper by drawing patterns and then colouring or printing from a computer.
Ask parent's to cut out any doors or windows with a sharp knife.
Use masking tape to stick the boxes together, and to make opening doors or windows, then paint the outside or cover with wallpaper.
Making two like in the picture, then gluing them back to back with give it more stability and double the rooms available.
A smaller box can be stuck to the side as a garage or stable.
Lids from Shoe boxes can make beds, and washed food containers made into various pieces of furniture.
