An amazingly realistic truck driving simulator made by SCS Software, first released on 10th October 2012
Available via Steam for around £12.00 but often offered in various bundles. DLC prices vary, but are usually around £10.00 - £15.00
The basic program comes with the UK/France map, allowing you to drive on both the left side of the road in the UK, and on the right after crossing the channel on the ferry or the train in the Channel Tunnel. But you can enlarge the driving area even more by purchasing separate DLC's for other adjoining Countries. At the current time there are seven extra DLC's, and a new one is made available once or twice a year expanding the drivable map further.
A new map for Russia was due to be released over the summer of 2022, but due to events with Ukraine has been filed away and will not be released until the war is over. To overcome this, the 'West Balkans' DLC will be released instead.

The simulator is playable with the keyboard or a handheld controller, but for the best immersion and realism you can use steering wheels, pedals and gear shifters.
A variety of trucks and trailers are provided in-game, which can be customised in layout, colour, engine size etc., but the beauty of SCS simulators is that the program allows the use of 'Mods', and there are many thousands of these available, many free, made by the simulators massive fanbase and content creators. These mods include alternative trucks, maps, trailers, engines, wheels, along with new versions of Weather, navigation devices, truck sounds or personalised logos.
Specialist creators have also made available replacement maps, these cover areas not currently covered by SCS Software, or have revamped areas which are.
