Who is the Boomerang?
Boomerang - aka Paul, was Born in, and lived most of his early years in South East London, apart from a few years spent in Eastlakes, just outside of Sydney in Australia, and a few years in Kent, he now since 1990 lives in the semi-rural town of Welshpool in Mid-Wales.
After many years working as an E.M.T. for the Ambulance Service, and later within the care field as a Residential Social Worker for abused children with severe challenging behaviours, he was forced to give up work after having several strokes and suffering badly from PTSD and high anxiety.
Unable to work but wanting to remain mentally active, he became an author, using his skills and experience along with his creative mind to write both non-fiction and fiction books. He also creates and maintains the 'WOO' (Wise Old Owl) Information Portal, a free to use non-profit website that provides useful information on a wide range of topics. (see other websites on top menu).
An Advanced Trained Emergency Vehicle Driver, a CB Radio user (Boomerang) 1982-2002, and with an interest in computers going back to his school days in the 70's, after purchasing his first computer a Spectrum ZX 48K in 1982, it was only natural that he was drawn towards Driving Simulators and other simulators based around the emergency services.
I enjoy Flight-Simulation, Truck Driving, Coach Driving, Police Simulation, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption.
Like many others, I started off working on a computer desk, I was already using two screens which made life much easier when writing my books and creating webpages. But when I purchased the Logitec G29 wheel and gearstick, I started to run out of usable room for my keyboard, mouse, and my 'low-tech' equipment (notebook drawing pad, phone, pens). I tried building a sliding platform for the wheel that enabled me to slide it to one side when just using PC for normal things, but that only made the wheel and gearstick unstable when gaming.
It took me a while to obtain a car seat, but once I had I designed my own 'Rig' that suited my requirements better, permanently fixing the wheel and gearstick, and adding a pull out shelf for the keyboard and a swivel shelf for the mouse. Since its original development it has been changed a few times as things came to light and I realised improvements could be made, and it has just been rebuilt yet again on the purchase of my new gaming PC, as it was just a little bit bigger and would not fit in the same place as the old Dell machine. you can find full build and modification details In the Simulation Rig section.
